The High Court handed down a major victory for a fired government worker on Wednesday. Judges told officials they must bring back Md Sharif Uddin to his old job at the Anti-Corruption Commission. The court also said he deserves all the money and benefits he missed out on since getting the boot. Two senior judges made this ruling after hearing his case against the agency. Justice Md Rezaul Hasan and Justice Biswajit Debnath both agreed the firing was wrong. Sharif used to work as a deputy assistant director before losing his position two years ago. The Anti-Corruption Commission kicked him out on February 16, 2022 during a time when he had become well-known for his work. People recognized him for the cases he handled when the previous government was running things. His dismissal came as a shock to many who knew about his career at the commission. His legal team celebrated the court decision outside the courthouse. Lawyer Salah Uddin Dolon told news reporters that judges threw out the firing order completely. The court gave officials exactly 30 days to put Sharif back in his position. He will return with all his previous rank and job benefits intact. The ruling means the commission must treat him as if the firing never happened at all.
