BNP leader Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir wants former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to face trial for mass murders. He spoke to reporters after visiting sick party members at a hospital in the capital. Fakhrul said Hasina and her followers must answer for killing thousands of people. The politician believes everyone who supported fascist actions should go to court. He called Hasina the main person responsible for all the violence and torture. The BNP secretary general said trials against Hasina have already started. He hopes all her allies will join her in facing justice for their crimes. Fakhrul thinks the entire Awami League party should stand trial as well. He reminded people that his party suffered the most under Hasina's rule. The leader himself faced 112 court cases and went to jail 13 times. Fakhrul claimed BNP remains the strongest supporter of democracy in Bangladesh. He said his party ended single-party rule and brought multi-party elections to the country. The politician believes BNP created the parliamentary system that exists today. He told reporters that all parties must work together to save Bangladesh. The leader said the nation needs to return to the right path as quickly as possible. The BNP official stressed that elections remain necessary for the people. He said Bangladesh needs leaders who stay connected to ordinary citizens. Fakhrul supports political reforms and joins discussions with the National Consensus Commission. He believes reforms and elections can happen at the same time without problems. The politician later visited famous singer Farida Parvin at another hospital.
