TikTok users think they found a hidden connection between Sabrina Carpenter's hit song Espresso and a famous video game tune. The social media creators believe Carpenter borrowed part of her melody from The Legend of Zelda's Lullaby theme. Two TikTokers named Morgan Brook and Kyle James Alm made a video comparing the songs side by side. The melodies do sound alike when people listen to them together. Both pieces use similar notes and follow the same basic rhythm pattern. However, the timing changes between the two songs create enough differences to make the connection questionable. The ascending musical parts also share similarities but Espresso contains more notes than the Zelda version. Brook and Alm suggest Carpenter's team changed the key and time signatures to avoid legal problems. Music experts think the similarity might just be a coincidence rather than intentional copying. Most of Espresso's main beat actually comes from pre-made music samples that producers can buy online. One particular sample file seems to contain the melody that people think sounds like Zelda. Carpenter's team probably found this sample and built their song around it without thinking about video game music. The pop star might have picked samples that reminded her of the Zelda tune but likely did not plan to reference the game directly.
