Both sides finished presenting their cases Tuesday in Sean Combs' federal trial. Prosecutors called their 34th witness after seven weeks of testimony. The defense team chose not to call any witnesses to testify. Judge Arun Subramanian asked Combs if he wanted to speak for himself. Combs said he would not testify and made the choice with his lawyers. The defense team presented some documents and finished in less than 30 minutes. Closing arguments will start Thursday when lawyers make their final speeches to jurors. Jurors will decide if Combs committed crimes that could send him to prison for life. The charges are sex trafficking, racketeering and moving people for prostitution. Defense lawyers asked the judge to dismiss all charges. Prosecutors tried to prove Combs ran a criminal group for years. They said he forced people into drug-filled sexual events called freak-offs. Some sessions lasted for days and were recorded on video. Jurors watched several explicit recordings during the trial. Government lawyers showed text messages and travel records as evidence. Three women described violent sexual and physical abuse. Singer Casandra Ventura dated Combs for more than 10 years and sued him in 2023. The case settled quickly but led to more accusations against the music producer. Security camera footage showed Combs attacking Ventura at a hotel. A security guard said Combs paid him $100,000 for the video tape.
