A man from Zimbabwe who lives in Dubai can't build his family home anymore because his younger brother broke into their house in Cowdray Park, Bulawayo, and took US$11,000. Dion Tapelo Nyathi, just 21 years old, ran away after stealing the cash and even threatened to set fire to the family house with a gas cylinder and stove. The family keeps looking everywhere for him, hoping they can get their money back. They reported the theft to Cowdray Park police and received case number 73/03/25. Most of the stolen cash belonged to Dion's brother, Andy Philisani Nyathi, who worked in Dubai and saved up to build a house. About US$1,500 of that money belonged to their mother. Police think Dion hides in Kwekwe with some friends since he has no family there. Andy talked about the problem from Dubai, saying Dion caused many headaches and acted meanly toward their mother and little brother. His latest angry outburst happened Wednesday when he asked his mother for money. She refused to give him cash for his drinking habits, which made him furious. He then tried to burn down their house. His mother headed to the police station for help to stop the fire threat. During that time, Dion asked a neighbor for an axe and smashed his mother's bedroom door. He looked around until he found a bag with the key to her small safe where she kept the money. After taking US$11,000, he vanished completely. The police tracked his phone signal to a tower near Kwekwe. Dion fights addiction to alcohol and marijuana, turning violent when he drinks or smokes. He drinks cheap booze called njengu, which makes him aggressive, according to Andy. The brother also mentioned that South African police want to question Dion about a Nigerian man who died after being stabbed many times in the chest. Andy learned this during a trip through South Africa from Dubai. When Andy asked Dion about the murder, Dion claimed he knew nothing about it. Their brotherhood broke apart after Dion threatened to burn their house and steal their savings.
