Funcom will offer private servers when Dune Awakening launches on computers. The Norwegian game company moved up their timeline after fans asked for this feature. Private servers connect to larger game worlds that contain other rented spaces. Gamers can visit social areas and the Deep Desert to meet people from different private servers. The hosting companies manage these shared spaces rather than individual players. Server owners can change three main settings on their rented space. They can turn player combat on or off across the entire map or just certain areas.

Taxation systems can be turned off completely if server owners prefer. Sandstorms that change the landscape can also be disabled for a calmer experience. Gportal, Nitrado and xREALM will provide these rental services to interested players. The game releases June 10 for everyone but special edition buyers can start playing June 5.
