The death count from Wednesday morning's crash on Harare-Bulawayo Road jumped to eight people. Police officials released the names of seven victims who died near the Dzivarasekwa turn-off. They found four women and three men among the dead, but one person remains unnamed.
Police Commissioner Paul Nyathi stated the terrible accident. Three vehicles smashed together—a Toyota Hiace kombi, a big haulage truck, and a Nissan UD truck. Everything happened on March 19 around 5:30 in the morning, where Bulawayo Road meets Dzivarasekwa Road.
Officials identified the women as Zedi Chikomo, Mary Round, Nyarai Meki, and Sophia Machamba. The male victims were Enock Chanengeta, Blessing Banda, and Takudzwa Musekiwa. These people all came from the Dzivarasekwa 3 area of Harare before their lives ended suddenly.
The eighth body, an adult male, sits at Sally Mugabe's mortuary, waiting for doctors to examine it. Medical teams at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals currently care for eleven more people injured during the same crash. Their conditions remain unreported by authorities.
Zimbabwe Republic Police asked all drivers to stay cautious on roads everywhere. They stressed following traffic rules saves lives. Police assured everyone they would continue investigating what caused this deadly highway collision.
