Elysia xmax bus processor takes center stage at NAMM

Elysia showed off its brand-new Xmax at the NAMM Show 2025. This machine helps music makers with mixing, mastering, and live performances. The xmax combines a flexible compressor, simple shelf EQ, and soft clipping from its alpha compressor model. Every part uses high-end Class-A circuits that keep your sound clean without messing up your mix. The xmax splits your stereo music into Middle and Side parts for better control.

The processor divides your Middle signal into two different frequency bands. You can adjust how much each part gets compressed with separate knobs for Low, Mid and Sides signals. The x-freq control lets you pick where the Middle and Low bands split apart. A special VariLink button connects all three bands if you want them to work together. Pressing the Punch button makes the compression stronger when you need more impact.

After compression happens, your sound goes through a high-shelf filter you can change with the Tone knob. Then the xmax turns your Middle-Side signal back into regular stereo. Next comes the Soft Clipper section, based on what Elysia made for their top-line alpha compressor. This part lets you push your levels higher without causing digital clipping in your recording equipment.

You can buy the Xmax in three different versions. The regular 1U rack unit fits standard studio racks. The 500-series module works in popular portable frames many studios have. The third option comes in Elysia's small Qube case for people who need something compact. All three versions do exactly the same thing, just in different-sized boxes.

The Xmax will hit stores in April 2025. The rack version costs €1749 if you need the full-sized unit. The 500-series module costs €1149. The cute little qube version is between those prices at €1349. Each one gives you the same audio quality but fits different studio setups. Music makers can pick whichever size makes sense for their workspace without losing any sound quality.
