Retired Brigadier General Emmanuel Rwashande defeated five-term incumbent Theodore Ssekikubo during Thursday's National Resistance Movement primaries for Lwemiyaga County. Rwashande captured 16,358 votes while Ssekikubo managed only 8,702 ballots across the constituency. The former military officer won four of five sub-counties despite Ssekikubo's long tenure representing the area. Deborah Arayo announced the results as returning officer for Sembabule district. Rwashande attributed his victory to voters seeking change from the current representative's performance. Florence Nambaziira unseated incumbent district Woman MP Mary Begumisa with 41,733 votes against Begumisa's 34,032 ballots. Begumisa had run unopposed during the previous election cycle but faced opposition from local leaders who challenged her leadership. State Minister for Health Anifa Kawooya retained her Mawogola West seat after defeating challenger Wilberforce Begumisa. Oswaldo Dezi Byuma secured the Mawogola county nomination by overcoming Yasin Kironde and Denis Ddumba. The primaries reshaped political representation across multiple constituencies within the district.
