Enock Kizito stepped down from his roles at the Uganda Law Society. He served as Head of Protocol, Clerk to Council, PA to the CEO, and Chief Scheduler to President Ssemakadde. This marks another setback for the organization after a failed coup against its leadership. Ssemakadde and Vice President Asiimwe survived that attempt and removed the coup leaders from their positions. Kizito left because of ongoing security threats and a lack of protection from the Bar. He faced intimidation from state agencies like CMI and Parliament CID and threats from current and former ULS Council members. When he asked ULS leaders for help, they offered no support or protection. On February 7, 2025, he delivered documents to Parliament about a judge accused of misconducting women litigants. Police later summoned him and claimed he presented false papers. The CID demanded he appear for questioning, but his requests for legal help from ULS went unanswered. Kizito revealed he fled Uganda for safety reasons. The ULS never condemned the threats against him or tried to ensure his safety. When he briefly returned, promises of help with his CID case never materialized. His life has been completely disrupted, even forcing him to pause his university studies.
