Police caught former election chief KM Nurul Huda at his home tonight. Officers took him from his house in Uttara around seven o'clock after people gathered outside. Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Tahman said the arrest happened at sector 5. Police first brought Nurul Huda to Uttara Pashchim station before moving him. Detective Branch officers at Minto Road will handle his case. The arrest came hours after BNP filed charges against him and 23 other people. Nurul Huda ran the election office during the 2018 voting when he served as Chief Election Commissioner. BNP leader Salah Uddin Khan brought the case to Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station earlier today. The charges target former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and other top election officials. Police confirmed they received complaints against all 24 suspects. BNP claims these officials rigged three major elections from 2014 to 2024. The party says election commissioners announced fake winners without real votes. Former police chiefs and intelligence agency heads also face charges for helping with the fraud. Several election commissioners from different years appear on the accused list. The case alleges criminal behavior during all three voting periods. Officer Emaul Haque confirmed the case covers many government officials who worked during those elections. BNP believes law enforcement agencies helped election officials cheat voters. The party wants courts to punish everyone who participated in the fake voting schemes.
