Former police chief Dr. George Dampare thanks God and all Ghanaians for standing by him during his time as top cop. His statement comes after the Government Communications Minister announced someone would replace him on March 13, 2025. Many people from Ghana and around the world sent him messages of support yesterday. Their love left him feeling deeply touched. Dr. Dampare expresses big thanks to former President Akufo-Addo, who picked him as police boss. He became the youngest person ever to lead police in the Fourth Republic. He also appreciates President John Mahama for working well with him during their brief time together. Religious and tribal leaders helped him greatly with prayers and advice that guided his decisions. He thanks other security agencies for working as partners with the police. During his leadership, many citizen groups offered helpful ideas. Foreign countries and embassies encouraged him and shared valuable thoughts about policing. Dr. Dampare worked 35 years as a police officer. He started at the bottom as a regular officer and climbed all the way up to the highest job. At nearly 55 years old, Dr. Dampare looks back proudly on his clean record serving Ghana. He ran almost every police department and twice led both the Welfare and Administration sections. He feels grateful for the chance to reach the highest rank any officer can achieve. The regular police officers helped keep peace and order everywhere. Dr. Dampare stays ready to serve Ghana again. He remains full of energy and promises to bring the same discipline and honor to any future service to his country.
