Ex YEA Boss Exposes Zoomlion Pay Scam

The last head of the Youth Employment Agency says Zoomlion had no deal when he left office. Kofi Agyepong stepped down on January 25 this year. He posted on Facebook that the sanitation program needs complete changes because it duplicates work that local governments already do. He called the current setup inefficient for taxpayers.

The new agency leader, Malik Basintale, promised never to continue the old payment system. That system gave street cleaners just GHS250 each month. The remaining GHS600 per worker went to Zoomlion for management costs. Basintale blamed previous leaders for keeping this arrangement active while they were running things.

Agyepong believes people need solutions instead of finger-pointing about who started the problem. He wants everyone to focus on facts and respect for workers. He promised to watch Basintale's live online talk later tonight. He hopes many people will share ideas to fix these issues permanently.

The sanitation contract has sparked heated debate among officials and the public. People question why workers receive such a small pay from the total amount. Critics argue that local assemblies could manage these services without a middle company taking most of the money. The discussion highlights broader concerns about fair compensation for essential workers across Ghana.
