Lorraine Shaquan Kljajic will accept the UMP Fashion Lifetime Achievement Award from Chitoliro at the 2025 ceremony. This big event happens October 21-27 during the UMP Festival at Cape Maclear in Mangochi. The awards showcase fifteen different categories, including Model of the Year, Fashion Designer of the Year, plus Best Urban or Streetwear Designer. Anyone can send nominations starting June 1, 2025. Ken Zizwa Limwame, executive producer at Chitoliro, talked with Malawi24 about these awards. He explained how they pick lifetime award winners based on leadership, fresh ideas, and years of hard work. Limwame thinks Kljajic changed fashion forever. According to him, her impact reaches everywhere. He believes her passion makes other people want to join the industry. Aisha De Silva runs the UMP Festival as CEO. She agrees completely with Limwame's comments about Kljajic. De Silva considers her journey proof that dedication creates success. She believes Kljajic broke barriers for younger creative people. Born in Malawi but raised across the border in Tanzania, Kljajic helped reshape fashion globally. Her mixed background pushed her to celebrate different cultures and help women succeed in business. Kljajic started many successful ventures, including Miss Culture Global, Africa Fashion and Arts Festival, Afrifood SA Pty Limited, LoPeCon Pty Limited, and LushXurious. These projects show how much she cares about African style, culture, and female empowerment. She won Fashion Promoter of the Year back in 2020. Nigeria gave her Best Personality in Pageantry during 2022. Zimbabwe named her company Emerging Brands of the Year in Pageantry. Previous winners of these awards include Mary Chilima, Hazel Mak, and Christian Entwan. Famous designers like Lily Alfonso and Mabel Khonje also received special recognition for changing the industry.
