Fatshark Studios launched the first paid expansion for Warhammer 40K Darktide. The downloadable content sells for $11.99 standard edition and $18.99 deluxe edition. Players gain access to a new character class called Adeptus Arbites. The class features a robotic dog companion named Cyber-Mastiff that players can customize and control. The companion attacks enemies automatically or follows specific player commands during combat. The new class offers multiple skill trees for different play styles. Players can focus on elite enemy killing, crowd control or support abilities. Those who prefer solo gameplay can choose the Lone-Wolf talent that removes the companion but boosts character abilities. The talent provides damage reduction, attack speed increases and ability charge bonuses. Fatshark also released a free update called The Battle for Tertium. The update restructures the entire player experience with a linear campaign system. New players experience missions in a specific order rather than random selection. The change helps beginners learn game mechanics at a better pace. The developers redesigned the mission selection and difficulty systems. Players can choose any mission and select their preferred difficulty level separately. The studio increased the maximum number of characters from previous limits to eight. Weapon loadout slots also expanded to eight options per player. The update adds 900 new character conversations and introduces special events. An Inferno event runs until July 7 alongside a new Havoc campaign mode. The changes aim to improve both new player onboarding and veteran player satisfaction.
