First Lady Dr. Auxillia Mnangagwa spoke to thousands at the launch of her Afrikana Family Humanism Programme in Harare. She said good communication, faithfulness, and respect are important for strong marriages and help parents raise morally upright children. The popular program has now launched in nine provinces. Only one province remains. The First Lady is working to fix broken homes. She wants men and women to live in harmony. This will allow them to raise children with dignity. The program looks at people's personalities and family life. It considers the norms and values of Zimbabwe. Putting the program in place has brought many families together. Mrs. Mnangagwa met separately with men and women. Later, she spoke to the full group. Some wives said they cheated because their husbands treated them badly. The husbands often left the wives poor and lonely. The wives then found comfort with other men. The First Lady advised the women not to cheat in response. "Revenge cheating is not good," she said. Mrs. Mnangagwa reported that many women across Zimbabwe are fed up with marriage. But they do not want to leave their homes. The women say it is time for a change. They want the men to start praying for their marriages. The First Lady brought in speakers to discuss key issues. Reverend Nelly Gwatidzo praised Mrs. Mnangagwa for the helpful program. Rev. Gwatidzo said men cause women much pain by cheating. Men cheat with many women and hide it. "They are like predators on the prowl," she said. But the Reverend asked if women play a role in men's bad behavior. She said women should take care of themselves. They should cook for the family. Nagging and fighting with husbands causes problems. Mrs. Mnangagwa asked the women to express their feelings openly. She wants to find solutions to build strong families. The First Lady's goal is for spouses to support each other in raising good children.
