Flood Forces Ohangwena Residents Into Emergency Shelters

The Ohangwena area is experiencing serious floods right now. Many people had to leave their homes quickly, and workers from the Regional Council helped them move to safe places. The floods came from Angola recently. Governor Sebastian Ndeitunga spent Sunday checking how bad things were in several areas.

Water covered many spots completely in Ongenga, Engela, and Oshikango. The worst damage happened at Onamhinda and Eshoke, where houses sit underwater. Onghala B village became an island with water all around it. People there could not escape by walking. The situation became very scary for everyone living there.

Medical teams flew in by air to help sick people at Onghala B. Some patients needed hospital care and flew to Engela for treatment. The camps hold mostly kids and older adults who escaped the rising water. These groups needed extra help during this emergency.

Governor Ndeitunga asked everyone to stay away from flood waters. He stressed how unsafe playing or walking through water can be. This danger grows even worse after dark when people cannot see what lies beneath. Parents must watch their children carefully during this time.

Safety remains the main concern for all residents in these flooded areas. The water carries hidden dangers that might harm anyone who enters it. Everyone should take extra care until the floods go away. The Regional Council continues to help those affected by this disaster. They ask people to follow all safety advice carefully.
