[QUOTE="Munyaradzi Mafaro, post: 45669, member: 636"] Former Water Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki has become the newest member of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's Democracy for Citizens Party. The political party announced her arrival and praised her decision to join their movement. Kariuki served under former President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration before stepping down from her government role. Party officials said they feel honored to welcome someone with her experience. They described their organization as a grassroots movement that represents ordinary citizens. Kariuki left her cabinet position during February 2022 to seek elected office. She wanted to run for a political seat during the August 2022 elections on the Jubilee Party ticket. However, party leaders chose former Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia over her after a competitive selection process. The decision came after a lengthy political contest between the two candidates. Her failed bid marked a setback for her electoral ambitions. Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba recently joined the same party. She met with Gachagua at party headquarters during June and toured Kiambu County with him. Both politicians appear to be building alliances ahead of the 2027 general election. Their partnership signals growing support for Gachagua's political movement. The collaboration suggests they plan to work together on future campaigns. Gachagua plans to officially launch his party on July 7 during a ceremony with Maa community leaders. He moved the event from Nairobi to the Maa region after claiming state interference with the original venue. More than 500 grassroots organizers will attend the launch at his Wamunyoro residence.
