Actually, ZNA owned 50% shares in Marange diamonds. So who was the Minister of Defense and who was the Zimbabwe National Army general? They are only blaming people who were associated with G40 that's all.

Why do the police have stock in any company? It seems like an approach that can only lead to corruption and abuse of power.

Why? It appears to me, you are not aware that this is not a police force, this is an arm of ZANU-PF, a very corrupt organization, hence don't be shocked that they have shares in a company. They might as well be having shares in anything in Zim because they can.

This is a good enough reason to suspend the entire Senior police command and launch a thorough investigation by an independent commission headed by someone who is non-aligned. Time to call upon the govt to take firm action instead of just voicing concern.

When the army grabs mines and the police, and the Zanu bigwigs then you know the country has gone to the dumps. Mining should be done in a transparent manner and all money surrendered to the treasury for disbursement. This country is beyond redemption for real. When Zanu is vanquished we all need therapy. And wash in javex as a cleansing process.

No one wants to say the truth. The epicenter of all corruption in the previous dispensation was Mugabe. He allowed his henchmen to loot but kept detailed files on their activities. He used those corruption files to keep each one of them in check. Mugabe's credenza of corruption was a well-known terror among his ruffians.
If you went out of hand he would call you to his office, give you the file to read, and keep silent. His victim would see visions of jail and start blabbering promising all sorts of loyalty, going down to their knees and groveling. Ask George Charamba. He may confirm this about his former boss.

Though we can't deny his involvement in the scandal, the truth is now he is being used as a scapegoat. They are using him as a shield and it seems he has information that can implicate the current government.

There is also the issue of powerful forces which one of the guys giving evidence refused to name which obviously points to the current Junta setup. Everyone in ZANU-PF has a case to answer in this scandal.
