Evidence revealed the group schemed to obtain Zimbabwe IDs in August. They conspired with Tawanda Waniwa, a Mount Darwin registry worker, who issued birth certificates using false information.

The fraudulent applications included fabricated Zimbabwean identities. Dumba claimed the name "Christiana Mhereyenyoka" from Chinhoyi. MuyaMuya presented himself as "Emile Chingwaru" from Makonde. Ngei used "Marvel Chimbwanda" from Uzumba Maramba Pfungwe. KumNnam adopted "Yvette Maini" from Mount Darwin.

Authorities recovered the counterfeit documents and ID numbers as evidence. A previous Beitbridge Court ruling had found the four guilty of illegal entry and passport fraud.
