Four Cameroonians Face Fines for Document Fraud. Four Cameroonians received fines of US$400 each after spending five months in jail for obtaining fraudulent Zimbabwean identity documents. Christiana Boyembe Dumba, Emile MuyaMuya, Tegha Marvel Ngei, and Yvette KumNnam pleaded guilty to violating Zimbabwe's birth registration laws. Harare magistrate Ruth Moyo handed down the sentence after hearing arguments from both sides. Defense lawyer Tinashe Mbale sought leniency, citing the defendants' time in remand prison. He noted their professional backgrounds - two recent graduates plus a nurse and teacher. Prosecutor Nomsa Kangara argued the crimes threatened national security and undermined public trust in government institutions. The court heard evidence of an August scheme where the group worked with Tawanda Waniwa, a Mount Darwin registry employee. They provided false information to obtain birth certificates under fake Zimbabwean identities. Court records revealed their deception. Dumba claimed to be Christiana Mhereyenyoka from Chinhoyi. MuyaMuya presented himself as Emile Chingwaru from Makonde. Ngei used the name Marvel Chimbwanda, claiming birth in Uzumba Maramba Pfungwe. KumNnam falsified her identity as Yvette Maini from Mount Darwin. The group processed these fraudulent documents between August 27 and September 4. Police recovered all fake certificates and associated national identification numbers as evidence. This marks their second conviction for document fraud. A Beitbridge Court previously found them guilty of illegal entry into Zimbabwe and using fraudulent passports.
