Zimbabwe's anti-graft agency has launched a fraud investigation into religious leader Walter Magaya over questions about his academic credentials.

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) seeks documents from the Zimbabwe Football Association regarding Magaya's recent bid for a position on ZIFA's executive committee. The agency has also requested records from the Judicial Service Commission about Magaya's High Court challenge of his election disqualification.

At issue is a marketing diploma Magaya claims he earned from the University of South Africa (UNISA). The university stated on January 29 that Magaya never attended their institution. They declared any certificates bearing their name presented by Magaya were fake.

Magaya had submitted this diploma, certified by Waterfalls police, to prove he met educational requirements beyond the five O' Levels needed for the ZIFA position.
