[QUOTE="Nehanda, post: 30463, member: 2262"] Rigathi Gachagua showed up unexpectedly at Kiambu County's Wangige market on Monday. His surprise visit happened just hours after he said police officers tried stopping him from talking to people at roadside gatherings in Kajiado and Naivasha. Large numbers of police appeared in Naivasha on Sunday when Gachagua attended church with his supporters. Later, he spoke to locals about what he called security plans preventing him from holding public talks. Gachagua drove with his allies in separate cars on Monday to avoid government attention before meeting up at Wangige market along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway. During his speech, he told Mt Kenya residents they should welcome President Ruto but remain skeptical about his promises. He pushed people to demand that Ruto follow through on projects he previously guaranteed. Gachagua stressed that every region deserves government support for development projects. The former deputy has jumped back strongly into politics these past four days after taking a brief break. His return comes exactly when President Ruto starts touring the Mt Kenya area. Government officials keep saying Ruto visits the region purely for development reasons, not political campaigns. Lawmakers supporting the administration have spread across Mt Kenya, encouraging residents to greet Ruto warmly. Senator Alexander Mundigi from Embu stated Monday that Mt Kenya eagerly awaits the president because he brings important projects. The senator mentioned that Ruto would deliver water systems, roads, hospitals, and electricity rather than political messages. Gachagua continues pressing citizens to question what concrete benefits they'll actually receive during these presidential visits, suggesting they might miss important opportunities without speaking up.
