Gachagua takes aim at Ruto for church row

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua accused President William Ruto of sending troublemakers to attack him during a church service. Some people tried to enter the church, but Gachagua's security team stopped them.

When Gachagua spoke at the event, he directly blamed Ruto and Nairobi's Governor Johnson Sakaja for the attack. He asked why Ruto would send people to cause problems inside a church. Gachagua said he did not mind being attacked outside the church, but he felt angry about the disruption during a religious service.

He claimed that police officers were told not to help during the incident. Only a few officers volunteered to protect him. Gachagua warned Ruto that trying to hurt him politically would not work. He said his supporters would continue fighting for their cause even if something happened to him.

Murang'a Senator Joe Nyutu also spoke out against the attack. He said people should not cause trouble inside a church where people worship. The relationship between Ruto and Gachagua became difficult after Gachagua was removed from his position in October 2024.

Gachagua has been speaking out against the government and calling himself the opposition leader in the Mt. Kenya region. Ruto believes his long friendship with people from the area is strong and cannot be broken by recent political disagreements.

Ruto mentioned he has been visiting Mt. Kenya for over 20 years. He believes their relationship is built on decades of connection and cannot be changed by a few months of political problems. The tension between the two leaders continues to grow.

The church incident shows how complicated their political relationship has become. Both sides are trying to explain their version of what happened. The community watches carefully as these political leaders argue with each other.

The conflict highlights deep political divisions in the region. People are interested in understanding what will happen next between Ruto and Gachagua. Their disagreement could affect future political discussions and relationships.
