Ex-Police Chief Wants Unity in Kisoro. Edward Kale Kayihura used to be the top police officer in Uganda. He recently spoke at a big prayer event in Kisoro. Kayihura said the leaders there need to work together better. Kayihura is worried that Kisoro's leaders argue too much, which he thinks prevents good things from happening in the district. One example was when some leaders didn't go to an important fundraiser. They skipped it because of political fights. But the event still raised a lot of money. Kayihura asked religious leaders for help. He wants them to guide the political leaders to stop fighting, as he believes this is the only way Kisoro can grow. Kayihura promised he would never be part of the problem and would always support peace and progress. The prayer event happened after a tense election in Kisoro. Different religious groups almost caused big trouble. Bishop Mbitse led the prayers. He told everyone to live in harmony. He said this is what the Bible teaches in Romans 12:18. Mbitse wants people to choose good leaders in the next election. Ones who will bring people together. A top politician named James Nsaba Buturo agreed. He thanked Mbitse for spreading a message of love. Buturo said Kisoro can't improve if leaders are divided. He wants everyone to aim for new goals in 2025 and leave hate in the past. The main idea is that Kisoro needs unity to move forward. The leaders have to put aside their differences. It's the only way to help the people who live there.
