A court approved bail for Pastor Wisdom Kwame Adu after police charged him with theft. The 38-year-old religious leader must pay GHS150,000 and provide two people who can guarantee his return. One person backing him must prove they have land or property. Adu denies taking money and items from his dead friend Emmanuel Offei. He faces another court hearing on July 14. Police say Adu took a Range Rover vehicle and bank card from Offei after he died. The pastor withdrew GHS27,000 from cash machines between June 8 and June 10. Samuel Awuku Darko told police his brother Emmanuel had been robbed. Darko lives at Akropong Akuapem and works as the main person seeking justice. Adu lives near Medea at a place called Korleyman. Emmanuel Offei went to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital during April for medical care. He left the hospital on April 30 without doctors releasing him properly. Adu and Offei traveled to Kumasi on May 26 to pray at religious services. Offei died on June 5 at a church building. Adu told the family about the death but kept important belongings. Officers arrested Adu at his rented home on June 17 after tracking the stolen money. Police found GHS35,356 and £40 during their search of his house. Bank records showed someone used Offei's Ecobank card at machines in Kumasi and Pokuase-Amasaman. The dead man's body stays at a private funeral home. Doctors will examine the body to determine how Offei died.
