Senagbe cut Zinto with the large knife on his head, ear, arm and back. Zinto fought back and took the weapon away from his attacker.

People nearby helped treat Zinto's wounds and called police officers from Klagon station. Officers gave Zinto paperwork to get medical care at a hospital. Police arrested Senagbe two days later on April 12 at his home. Senagbe told officers he attacked Zinto because the man had stolen his romantic partner. Police found and kept the machete as evidence for the court case.
