Donald Trump said he plans to take the Gaza Strip and make everyone who lives there leave. He shared this news on January 4, 2025, with Israel's leader, Benjamin Netanyahu, standing next to him. Trump wants to turn Gaza into what he calls "real estate." His words shocked many people. For years, most countries hoped Palestinians would have their land next to Israel. But Israel kept building more homes on Palestinian land. Trump's plan came days after he helped make peace talks work. He had won praise for stopping the fighting before he was to start his new time as president on January 20. When Biden's team tried to take credit, Netanyahu said Trump did the work. Many leaders around the world said Trump's plan breaks the law. They said forcing people from their homes is wrong. Trump had told people during his run for president that he would bring peace. He blamed others for wars in Ukraine and Gaza. Many Arab-Americans had backed Trump because they thought he would stop the fighting. These people feel let down by his new plan. Trump will not say if he might send U.S. fighters to make his plan work. Some leaders in his party say his idea is bad. The rest of the world does not like Trump's plan. The United Nations, Arab League, European Union, Britain, and Russia all said no. They say moving two million people from their homes breaks world laws. Trump asked Egypt and Jordan to take in the people from Gaza. Both countries said no right away. They fear such moves would cause big problems in their lands. Leaders wait to hear what the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation will say. Adama Barrow leads this group. His country, The Gambia, has long backed the idea of two lands—one for Israel and one for Palestine. In 2020, Trump helped Israel make friends with some Arab lands. The UAE, Bahrain, Sudan, Morocco, and Saudi Arabia all said they would work with Israel. But the fighting in Gaza and Trump's new plan have hurt these deals. Trump says he wants his plan to work in four weeks. No one knows if this time will bring peace or more fighting.
