The President wants the police to make roads safer. He spoke at the Mkushi Academy police graduation. Road deaths have gone up by 93% since last year. Last year, 2,104 people died on roads. This year, 4,069 people died. Police must start using a new computer system to track traffic. Everyone must follow traffic laws and help the police. Many city roads have small cars called mushikashika. These cars break the rules and cause crashes. The government gave 500 new cars to help police do their job. They need enough people and tools to keep the country safe. The cars went to police stations across Zimbabwe. These cars help police work better. New computer tools matter for good police work. The government plans to add more tech systems for new problems. One new system checks fingerprints to find people who break laws. More systems like this will help courts work faster. Police must stay honest and turn down bribes. In their daily work, officers face many tests of their character. They must show strong values. What they do affects how people see all police and the whole country. The police school changed its name from Morris Depot to Mkushi Police Academy in July 2023. The new name honors brave women who died in 1978 at Zipra Mkushi Girls Camp in Zambia. These women fought against colonial rule. The school teaches new values to police students. Young men and women must serve with honor and pride. Police keep peace and safety for everyone. They must love their country deeply. The 907 new police graduates came from all ten parts of Zimbabwe. Today, police jobs require more than just height and strength. They also need smart thinking and wide skills. The two-year course taught many subjects, such as criminal law, human rights, and public safety. Vice President Mohadi and many other leaders came to watch the event. The guests saw police shows and met with the families of the graduates.
