GSKILL Z5 NEO Memory Kit Cranks Up AMD Performance

Taiwan-based G.SKILL makes high-performance computer memory but also sells SSDs, coolers, and gaming peripherals. The company offers various memory lines for different markets, including Trident Z, Royal, Neo, Ripjaws, and Elite for DDR4. After DDR5 launched in late 2021, G.SKILL introduced DDR5 versions of its popular series. The Trident Z5 lineup includes memory kits with speeds from 5200 MT/s to 9200 MT/s.

This review examines the G.SKILL Trident Z5 NEO RGB DDR5-6000 CL26 memory kit made for AMD systems. The NEO series comes in several configurations: 32 GB (2x16 GB), 64 GB (2x32 GB), 48 GB (2x24 GB), and 96 GB (2x48 GB), with speeds from 5600 MT/s to 8000 MT/s. Although designed for AMD with an EXPO profile, we tested it on Intel systems as well.

The reviewed kit (model F5-6000J2636G16GX2-TZ5NRW) features 32 GB capacity using two 16 GB sticks. It uses SK Hynix single-rank memory chips and stands 42.5 mm tall. The EXPO profile runs at DDR5-6000 MT/s with timings of 26-36-36-96-126 at 1.40 V, much faster than the standard JEDEC profile running at DDR5-4800 MT/s with 40-40-40-77-117 timings at 1.10 V.
