Hajiji Noor bribes newlyweds with free houses

Sabah will expand affordable housing construction from 40 to 50 units per constituency in 2026, with 10 homes reserved for newlyweds. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor announced the increase at a groundbreaking ceremony for a housing development on Saturday in Kampung Taka. The government commits additional resources to couples struggling financially and residing with relatives.

The 37.6-acre project operated by Sabah Housing and Town Development Authority features 320 residential units and 171 commercial spaces. Hajiji distributed 468 land titles covering 1,273.432 hectares to recipients at the event. The chief minister pledged new facilities for Pitas such as a sports complex, a 1 million ringgit bus terminal, and a 1.4 million ringgit cultural center.

Hajiji promised to restart an abandoned prawn farming venture between Yayasan Sabah and private partners to generate employment. The government will pursue land release discussions with the Sabah Forest Development Authority for local residents. Public-private partnerships reduce financial strain on government budgets and allow funds to support infrastructure and economic programs for community welfare.
