Zimbabwe prepares for special elections across four areas. The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission announced that voters will choose new leaders for Gutu East, Insiza North, Ward Five Chipinge Rural District Council, and Ward Four Binga Rural District Council. Officials printed 62,250 ballot papers for the 56,791 registered voters. Electoral staff members completed their training and received assignments to 135 polling stations. Commission Vice-Chairman Ambassador Rodney Kiwa urged everyone to keep peace during voting. Gutu East provides 56 polling stations for its race. Insiza North offers 67 locations for voters to cast ballots. Ward Five Chipinge has seven polling stations available. Ward Four Binga operates five voting centers. Different reasons caused each position to become empty. Benjamin Ganyiwa lost his Gutu East seat after Zanu PF recalled him from office. Farai Taruvinga died and left the Insiza North position empty. The Binga councillor stepped down from Ward Four. Death created the Ward Five Chipinge vacancy. These changes forced officials to schedule new elections. Three candidates compete for the Gutu East seat. Masvingise Zvarevashe represents Zanu PF against Zivanai Nzvenga from National Consultative Assembly and independent candidate Gift Gonese. Four people want the Insiza North position. Delani Moyo runs for Zanu PF against Thabani Mlotshwa from ZAPU, Mbongani Moyo from ZNRP, and independent candidate Leslie Dube.
