Highlanders dig in for a point in Ngezi draw

Highlanders coach Kelvin Kaindu feels happy with the single point they earned against Ngezi Platinum at Baobab. The teams played to a goalless draw yesterday. Highlanders needed a win to stay close to the top teams. They currently sit seven points behind league leaders MWOS, who beat Dynamos at Ngoni.

Kaindu mentioned this was just their second point away from home all season. For Ngezi Platinum Stars, they missed a chance to win at their home ground. The match kept the Highlanders unbeaten for six games straight. Ngezi had earlier tied with Greenfuel at home as well.

The 2023 champion, Ngezi Platinum, controlled most of the first half. Players Malvin Gaki, Talent Chamboko, and Takunda Benhura missed clear scoring chances. Richard Hachiro played amazingly in midfield for Ngezi. Highlanders struggled to break through the defense despite some nice passing.

Highlanders came back stronger after halftime. They almost scored when Never Rauzhi's attempt deflected off Farai Madhanaga and hit the post. Ngezi coach Takesure Chiragwi felt frustrated about the missed first-half opportunities. His team passed well but failed to score when it mattered most.
