Looks like Highlanders FC is doing some serious managerial shuffling. Their new head coach is supposedly Thabo Senong, a guy from South Africa who used to run the Lesotho national team and their U-20 squad. He is not working alone. Club icon Benjani Mwaruwari is being slotted in as technical director, a move apparently meant to keep major club backer Wicknell Chivayo happy. Senong's assistant will be former Bosso player Mkhokheli Dube, and he is bringing his own analyst, who will also coach. Another club legend, Zenzo Moyo, will be the team manager. The whole situation reeks of internal politics. Chivayo, the money man who bailed them out before, apparently wanted Mwaruwari as the top boss. The club shot that down because they were already talking to Senong. To avoid drama with their sugar daddy, they created the technical director role for the Warriors legend. This comes as they clean house, cutting loose current assistants Agent Sawu and Try Ncube, even though their deals ran for a while longer. That is just more money they owe, on top of a pile of existing debt to old coaches. They are also officially done with their interim fix, Pieter de Jongh, whose short contract is not getting renewed. The fate of goalkeepers coach Tembo Chuma is still up in the air. Meanwhile, former gaffer Kelvin Kaindu is still waiting on his ten grand. The club's finances are a complete mess, basically trading one set of debts for another while hoping this new South African coaching setup works a miracle.
