Infiltration attempts by terrorists from across the Line of Control in Kashmir have declined due to enhanced surveillance and the use of advanced equipment, the Inspector General of the BSF Frontier in Kashmir said on Wednesday. Ashok Yadav said that efforts by terrorists from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir have failed because of the alertness of security forces and technology deployed along the border. He said intelligence reports indicate that terrorists remain stationed at launch pads on the other side of the LoC, waiting for opportunities to cross. With winter approaching, Yadav said infiltration attempts may continue, but area domination by the BSF and the army will help detect and stop them. Yadav said it is difficult to confirm how many terrorists are present at the launch pads, as the numbers fluctuate, though estimates suggest about 100 to 120 are positioned there at any given time. He added that all those stationed at the launch pads are foreign nationals. He also said that reports about Lashkar-e-Toiba working with the Islamic State are under analysis by intelligence agencies, which plan coordinated countermeasures. The LoC stretches about 740 kilometers through Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora, Poonch, Rajouri, and parts of Jammu, while the 240-kilometer international border runs through Jammu, Samba, and Kathua. The army secures the LoC, and the BSF guards the international border.
