From Black Friday through Cyber Monday, shoppers and stores shared 11.6 billion messages, 41 percent more than last year. The numbers point to a big shift—people want to chat with stores just like they chat with friends.

Stores used email, text messages, and WhatsApp to reach out. These three ways alone led to 5.5 billion chats. Email saw the biggest jump, almost doubling from last year.

A new messaging method called RCS grew the most. It lets stores send fancy messages right to phones. These special messages shot up 349 percent compared to last year.

"RCS has become very important for stores," said Ivan Ostojić from Infobip. "It helps them talk better with their customers."

People kept shopping all weekend long, not just on the big sale days. The weekend saw 5.1 billion messages, up from 3 billion last year. Shoppers spent 70 percent more time buying things on Saturday and Sunday than they did last year.

The numbers show that shopping has changed. People want to look at items, ask questions, and buy things all in one place. They like talking with stories just as they talk with their friends.
