Itumbi Counters Gachagua Claims on Bomas Sale

Dennis Itumbi pushed back hard against claims about the Bomas of Kenya yesterday. The Presidential Special Projects Head said former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua lied when claiming the cultural center had been sold off. Itumbi explained that nobody sold Bomas to any Turkish business person. He described these statements as completely false and designed to confuse regular citizens.

The government actually plans major upgrades for Bomas instead of selling it. This cultural site has remained mostly unchanged since back in the 1970s. Officials want to transform it into an amazing meeting place that matches places found around the world. These improvements should help Kenya become the best location across Africa for hosting big meetings and showing off Kenyan culture.

Several exciting additions will make the new Bomas much better than before. Workers will build a huge arena where 11,000 people can watch shows and attend events. Fancy houses for visiting presidents will line a new street on the property. All the traditional cultural displays will stay but look much nicer and more modern than they do today.

Ummi Bashir runs the State Department for Culture and agrees with Itumbi. She expressed shock about the former Deputy President spreading these stories. Bashir mentioned that cabinet members approved renovating Bomas last August. She emphasized that Bomas still has its original land paperwork dating back to 1971.

Gachagua shared completely different information during his church visit in Kajiado County. He insisted that cabinet members had already approved selling Bomas despite his strong objections. The former Deputy President claimed he fought alone trying to save this important national landmark. He added that prison lands became included in this supposed deal and said aviation officials also tried stopping the sale.
