[QUOTE="Shamiso, post: 94092, member: 160"] Jackie Shroff gave the late Anjaan a public shoutout to mark what would have been his 96th birthday. The Bollywood actor put up a photo of the famed songwriter and paid his respects in a brief online note. Just a simple nod to a name with deep roots in Hindi film music. Behind the pen name stood Lalji Pandey, a Varanasi native from Uttar Pradesh. His body of work was wild, with a catalog of over 1,500 tracks spread across more than 300 movies. And his knack for heartfelt words made him a major name in Bollywood. His big break came through Prisoner of Golconda. From there, music heavyweights such as Bappi Lahiri, R. D. Burman, Kalyanji-Anandji, and Laxmikant-Pyarelal brought his words to life. Fans of Don will know Khaike Paan Banaraswala, while Muqaddar Ka Sikandar gave listeners O Saathi Re and Rote Hue Aate Hain Sab. Yaarana had Saara Zamana Haseeno Ka Deewana and Tere Jaisa Yaar Kahan. Then there was Pag Ghungroo Baandh in Namak Halaal. Quite the catalog. Anjaan died at 66, but lyric writing stayed in the family. His kid, Sameer Anjaan, went on to build a huge career in Bollywood music. The hit albums Aashiqui, Saajan, and Deewana helped make him a major name during the 1990s. His credits are no joke, either. Aashiqui had Nazar Ke Saamne and Ab Tere Bin, while Deewana gave fans Teri Umeed Tera Intezaar. Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke had Ghunghat Ki Aad Se, and Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin had its title track. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai joined that list as well. As for Shroff, his online activity has a clear pattern. Rather than stick to posts about his career, he often gives past film stars and artists a nod on their birth or death anniversaries. A pretty personal way to keep old Bollywood names in the chat.
