Janjangbureh Meeting Boycotted by Council Leaders

Local leaders stayed away from a key meeting with national lawmakers in Janjangbureh. The council chairman, Sulayman Sawaneh, his deputy, and ward leaders did not come to the planned talks.

The lawmakers went there as part of their duty to check the council's work. They hoped to see the progress of local projects, but they could not do this.

The meeting was meant to help lawmakers learn about what the council had done, what went well, and what problems they faced.

The National Assembly expressed its worry about this event. They said this was not the first time they had problems with this council. In 2022, during a similar visit, there was an angry exchange between council members and lawmakers.

Committee head Sulayman Jammeh, who represents Bundung, said he was very worried about how the council keeps retaliating against their efforts to do their work.
