Maj Gen Sabiiti Muzeyi called former MP John Kazoora a loyal patriot who never asked for rewards during his service. Kazoora, who once directed operations for the opposition FDC party, passed away on Easter Sunday. Friends gathered at All Saints Cathedral, Nakasero Wednesday for his memorial service. Muzeyi praised Kazoora for joining the National Resistance Army when he was just 24 years old. He served 23 years in the military before retiring. Muzeyi told mourners that Kazoora showed true patriotism throughout his life. People who left to fight with rebels never expected military ranks or even survival. Uganda stood on the edge of collapse with divided communities before the rebellion. The country has changed completely because Kazoora helped create peace. East Africa grew from three countries to eight with better connections between them. According to Muzeyi, Kazoora proved himself during hard times. The 1980s war started because of stolen elections, killings, and danger everywhere. Thanks to fighters like Kazoora, Uganda sends peacekeepers to Somalia, the DRC, and other African nations. These countries face the same problems Uganda had before rebels overthrew earlier governments. Kazoora later worked as a special administrator for the districts of Kampala and Kabale. He represented Kashari as MP for ten years. Muzeyi believes Kazoora always stayed dedicated to his country.
