"If that was the case, there is nothing that the judiciary can do," Conteh said. The Judiciary has already started talking with relevant authorities about keeping their payroll intact. These changes probably won't happen during 2025 but might start next year instead.

Conteh promised he would directly address the concerns of judiciary employees—those paid in grades 2 through 12—to the Judiciary Service Commission. He stressed that whatever the JSC decides will apply to everyone. The Commission holds constitutional power to suggest terms and conditions for judges, judiciary officers, and staff working in courts throughout The Gambia.
