Local health leaders say three people in Uganda's Kasese area have measles. Teams moved quickly to keep others safe.

Dr. Amon Bwambale runs health work in the area. He said they found sick people in three places: Kizungu, Nyamwamba, and Karusandara. His teams checked each case after people said some were ill.

"People told us about signs of the disease. We sent health workers to test them. The tests showed three people had measles," Dr. Bwambale said at a meeting in Kasese town.

Health teams want to stop the disease from going to more people. They ask everyone to tell them if they see anyone with measles signs. "We need people to watch for signs. If they see them, they should tell us right away," Dr. Bwambale said.

Uganda faces measles problems in many areas. Last November, health leaders gave shots to young children across the country, making sure children under five years old had their needed medicine.

A group called the African Field Epidemiology Network helps Uganda's health leaders fight the disease. They work hard to eradicate it.

The quick work by health teams gives hope. With everyone helping, they can make Kasese safer from measles.
