The Kavango West education team held its seventh yearly awards event at Mururani Combined School on Friday. They awarded trophies and medals across 14 groups to students, teachers, principals, and staff members from the Katjinakatji circuit in the Mankumpi area. Education boss Pontianus Musore talked about how everything depends on good leadership, which he sees proven in local schools. "A school like Mururani faces many problems including not enough classrooms, yet became the best in our region," Musore said. He pointed to several schools that changed their track record completely. Places like Levi Hakusembe, Kanjimi Murangi, Bunya, Ngamagoro, Ngatu, and Rupara transformed their results. These schools broke free from their history of bad test scores. Musore bragged about big wins for the whole region. During 2023 and 2024, they ranked first in Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate Advanced Subsidiary tests and second in Ordinary level exams. The region jumped from fifth place to second place at the ordinary level. Musore credited teachers' hard work and leadership for these achievements. Former deputy education director Joseph Kandjimi shared his success formula, POIME. He explained that it means Planning, Organizing, Implementation, Monitoring, and Evaluation. Parents trust teachers will use both external and internal motivation methods. Kandjimi advised students directly: "Make your study schedule and stick to it every day. Never change your plan or put off your work."
