Kenya sent its top guy to smooth things over with Uganda after a newspaper mess. Joash Maangi headed straight to see General Muhoozi Kainerugaba today. He brought Colonel Patrick Kaduda and other important Kenya embassy folks along. They met at military headquarters in Entebbe, where everyone talked things through face-to-face. Uganda brought some big shots as well. Brigadier General Paul Namawa showed up with Colonel Christopher Muwumba hanging right beside the General. Ambassador Maangi thanked General Kainerugaba for making time to hear what they came to say. The Standard newspaper from Kenya had printed something pretty nasty about the General recently. The Kenya team made sure to tell everyone their government never approved that mean article. They said sorry about the whole situation and wanted to fix bad feelings. Even The Standard newspaper posted apologies on Twitter later, praising how awesome the General has been throughout his army career. That helped calm the waters between the nations. General Kainerugaba spoke about friendship lasting through tough times. He reminded everyone that Kenya and Uganda go way back as neighbors who should always respect each other. Both sides agreed their countries must stay tight no matter what happens. They sealed their renewed friendship by trading presents before everyone left happy. Kenya gave traditional clothes plus a lion figure from their military leader, General Charles Kahiriri. Uganda handed over books about its President and tourist spots around its beautiful country. General Kainerugaba tossed fresh coffee into the gift bag as well. Everyone smiled and shook hands as they parted ways after fixing what could have turned into something much worse.
