Kenya Power just informed everyone about planned electricity cuts across eleven counties on Wednesday. They posted this news Tuesday evening. The company needs to fix and maintain parts of its power grid, which means no electricity from morning until afternoon for specific areas. People living near Kiwanja and parts of Kenyatta University in Nairobi should prepare for power cuts. The outages will affect places like KM, Kiwanja, Rubis, and Ola gas stations on the Northern Bypass. Nyayo Estate and the KU School of Economics will also lose power. These areas will experience nine hours without electricity starting at 9 a.m. Residents of Huruma Estate in Uasin Gishu County need backup plans from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. The electricity company will shut off power to Maranatha, St Jude Huruma Estate, and nearby customers during those six hours. Kakamega County faces similar timing for outages hitting Maji Mazuri, Lugari Station, Mapengo, Lunyito, and surrounding areas. Nyeri County outages start at 8 a.m. and last until 5 p.m. People around Kabendera, Belleview, and Kiboya Gatarakwa need alternative power sources. The cuts also affect Gatarakwa Safaricom Booster and Belleview Dispensary. Embu County faces power loss from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. around Ugweri Market, Nthangaiya Mission, several coffee factories, and Ngeniari. Meru County businesses and homes around Nkubu Market will lose electricity for nine hours beginning at 8 a.m. The shutdown impacts hospitals like Consolata and Jekim, plus schools, including Nkubu High. Hotels, businesses, and the Batian Nuts processing facility must prepare for the extended outage. The Mikumbune area faces the same schedule. Kiambu County residents around Juja Town and Kenyatta Road should expect darkness from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. The shutdown affects numerous estates, businesses, schools, and the Juja Police Station. Kitui County cuts focus on Nuu Market and surrounding areas, including multiple small markets like Mwangeni, Kaai, Imwamba, and others. These outages run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Coastal counties face power cuts lasting six hours instead of eight. Kilifi County outages impact Kambicha, Adu, and areas near salt production facilities. The shutdown affects hospitals, water systems, cell towers, and businesses from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Kwale County cuts target Mshiu, Lunga Lunga, and neighboring villages during the same timeframe. Lamu County residents around Mkunumbi and Koreni should also prepare for six hours without electricity. Kenya Power schedules these interruptions for necessary maintenance work. Their engineers need safe access to the grid for repairs and upgrades. These planned outages help prevent unexpected blackouts later by improving system reliability. The company handles both scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs throughout its network.
