Kenya Power will cut electricity to thousands of customers Thursday across four counties for maintenance work. The power company plans to upgrade systems and improve service reliability during the scheduled outages. Uasin Gishu residents around Mugundoi and Cheptiret will lose power from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The blackout affects Outspan, Ancila, Rehema, Kabongo, Songoliet, Cheplaskei and nearby communities. Workers will spend nine hours fixing electrical equipment and power lines. Homa Bay County faces a shorter outage from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. People living near Misambi, Bishop Okok, Oriang Parish and Nyapalo Market must prepare for seven hours without electricity. The maintenance covers Othoro Market, Kodada Centre, Pala Coffee and Atela Dispensary areas. Kilifi County customers around Malindi will experience power cuts from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The eight-hour blackout affects Msabaha, Mshongoleni, Kwachocha, Coast Boys and Malindi Handcraft businesses. Residents should expect no electricity for most of the day. Kiambu County has two separate maintenance zones with identical timing from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Gachie, Gacharage and Ngecha areas will go dark for eight hours. The second zone covers dozens of locations from Murera Sisal to Jujafarm Market. Kenya Power warns customers to treat all outlets as dangerous during maintenance periods.
