Kenya Warns of Possible Space Debris Overhead This Weekend

Watch out for space junk flying over Kenya soon. The Kenya Space Agency says a large rocket part might enter our airspace between April 19 and 20. This heavy object will travel from northeast Kenya toward Tanzania. Scientists expect it around 11:15 p.m. Saturday, but it could arrive anywhere from Saturday morning to Sunday afternoon.

The space agency wants everyone to stay alert during this time. They believe the debris won't land in Kenya but ask people to keep their eyes on the sky anyway. If you see anything unusual falling from above, report it right away. Take these sightings to your nearest police station, government office, or military base.

This particular space debris carries the identification number 61909/2024-205R. Experts track these objects carefully when they return to Earth. The exact weight remains unknown, but officials consider it significant enough to issue a public notice. The flight path makes it especially important for eastern African countries to monitor.
