Kenya's Meteorological Department said Tuesday that the country will experience sunny, dry weather this week. Parts of the southwest might see some rain.

Many areas will heat up past 30°C during the day. These include the Coast, North-Eastern, North-Western, South-Eastern Lowlands, and parts west of the Rift Valley. Night temperatures will drop below 10°C in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, Central Rift Valley, and South-Eastern Lowlands.

The forecast shifts dramatically for spring. Met Director David Gikungu said Kenya should expect heavy rainfall from March through May, which marks the main rainy season across Kenya and East Africa.

Several regions will see above-normal rainfall. The Lake Victoria Basin, South Rift Valley, and most western highlands can expect more than 300mm. Parts of the southeastern lowlands and far northern regions will also see heavy rains.

Other areas face lighter rainfall. The Central Rift Valley, eastern highlands, and Nairobi should prepare for below-average amounts. The same applies to most northwestern areas, the coast, and scattered western highland zones.

The north coast and northeastern Kenya will receive the least rain, Gikungu said. This continues recent patterns of uneven rainfall across the country's diverse regions.
