Kenya's deputy president checked on a marine training center being built in Kwale County on Wednesday. Officials have launched several other programs to help coastal communities. The government gave 3.2 billion shillings to fisher groups through Beach Management Units. Workers are building fish ports at Shimoni and Liwatoni. New fish markets and landing sites are under construction across five counties along the Indian Ocean - Kwale, Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Tana River.
