Drug agents found a huge stash of marijuana during a raid in Kisii county. The National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse teamed up with other agencies to search homes in Mwamogeza village. They discovered eleven big sacks plus two carrier bags stuffed with weed hidden inside rental houses. The bust went down Wednesday afternoon in the Kiamuasi area.
The main dealer managed to escape before the officers arrived. Law enforcement considers this person a major target they plan to catch soon. Three other people did end up in handcuffs during the operation. These suspects will appear in court to help officials learn more about the drug network.
Anthony Omerikwa runs Nacada and promised they won't stop hunting down drug dealers. He said this big seizure shows how serious they are about shutting down these criminal operations. Police continue calculating exactly how much the marijuana is worth on the street. They also keep searching for the main suspect who has escaped capture before.
Omerikwa asked regular citizens to help fight drugs by reporting any suspicious activity they notice. He believes tips from the public can save lives and break apart these criminal groups. The Kisii raid marks just the beginning of a much larger anti-drug push across Kenya. Officials plan similar searches in many known trouble spots until they clear out all drug selling locations nationwide.
